STEJĂRENII
Stejărenii, known until 1964 as Beșa (in the Saxon dialect Peschenderf, in German Beschendorf, Peschendorf, in Hungarian Bese) is a village in the commune of Daneș in the county of Mureș. Documentary attested in 1305, the village is excellent climatic protected, the Valea Stejărenilor preserving numerous archaeological testimonies: a Romanian rural settlement (after TIR L 35, p 68), with older and Roman-era archaeological materials, among which is ashes, is mentioned here. . The small town had a first church built in the fifteenth century, of which only the middle part of the altar built in the eighteenth century remains. The present church was built between 1913-1914, with the material help of the Saxon community of Leipzig. The organ was built in 1914 by Timisoara Wegenstein and his son. In the center of the altar is Christ on the cross; the side statues depict Moses with the table of laws and Paul with the sword. Today the village has a population of about 200 people.
